Bansuri is as simple as it gets. A hollow bamboo. Few holes burnt in it. And that's it......

No other musical instrument I know of, is as simple and as natural as the Bansuri. It needs no tuning, no elaborate care.

And yet, when a novice lifts it to play, it refuses to budge. It easily takes months to get good clean sound out of the Bansuri. My guru often jokes “Bansuri is God's instrument and the God allows only the true devotees to be able to play it.”
